2013 Ford Focus ST rear three quarters in motion

Ford Focus ST – 2013

The third generation of the Ford Focus was first unveiled in 2010. The most impressive model in its catalog was the Focus ST, announced a year later.

ST-branded sport models have been present in the Focus lineup since the very first generation.

Their development is handled by the Team RS group – a joint division of Ford Europe and Ford America, which designs racing cars and supercars. So, despite being widely available, the ST occupies a special place in Ford’s model range.

Brief description of the Ford Focus ST

The most important change in the third-generation ST concerns the engine. If in the previous generation it was a 2.5-liter 5-cylinder, now it has been replaced by a 2-liter 4-cylinder.

This in-line engine, equipped with direct injection and turbocharging, is distinguished by its increased efficiency and 20% lower CO2 emissions.

At the same time, it is 10% more powerful than its predecessor: its power reaches 250 hp, and torque – 359.6 Nm.

It is worth noting the excellent quality of the new chassis. Focus models have always been famous for their excellent handling, but this time the suspension and brake system were additionally reinforced, and various electronic systems such as a torque vectoring system, which replaced the conventional differential, allowed for a careful adjustment of the model’s behavior.

Despite the front-wheel drive, all 4 wheels are fully engaged when cornering, which affects both speed and driving sensations.
