In 2006, the American company Tesla Motors announced its first two-seater EV roadster.
While most companies were still experimenting with bringing electric vehicles to the mass market at that time, Tesla began deliveries of its model in 2008 and by 2012 had completely sold out the planned series of 2500 units.
In 2009, the Tesla lineup was joined by a second model – the five-door sedan Tesla Model S.
Brief description of the Tesla Model S
Its body dimensions are approximately halfway between the Mercedes S-Class and E-Class, and the design with a pointed nose and short overhangs was developed by Franz von Holzhausen from Mazda’s North American design center.
The interior trim uses environmentally friendly materials, including fully recyclable PET plastic and lead-free Italian leather. A 17-inch touchscreen is located on the dashboard, displaying all necessary information. As an option, a constant internet connection via a 3G mobile network is available.
The car is powered by the latest 9-inch liquid-cooled motor, which is powered by lithium-ion battery packs located under the floor. Three types of batteries with different capacities and costs are offered, the most expensive of which allows you to travel 483.0 km without recharging.
Batteries can be charged from a household electrical network with a voltage of 110 V, 220 V or 440 V.
The full charge time from a 220 V network is 4 hours, and from a 440 V network – only 45 minutes.
The technical characteristics of the Model S are worthy of a good sports car. The maximum power reaches 416 hp, the torque is 599.7 Nm, and the acceleration time to 100 km/h is only 4.4 seconds.
